The Red Anvil Blog

The blog of Richard Bent Blacksmith FWCB

About December 9, 2009

Introduction

I am a professional Blacksmith, Designer & Sculptor, with my forge/studio located in Modbury, Devon, England (map).

The bedrock of my work is the craft of the blacksmith. My inspiration is drawn from nature and the material (mild steel) is worked red-hot, by hammer and hand. Although the history and tradition of the craft play an important part in what I make, it is important that this translates to the needs and tastes of the Modern World. It is essential to me that the craft moves with the times and that history is made today, for the enjoyment of future generations tomorrow.

I am a holder of the Silver Medal in Blacksmithing awarded by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (WCB), three times National Champion Blacksmith, Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (FWCB) and I am a Freeman of the City of London.

I run courses for anyone interested in learning the art and craft of Blacksmithing, and for fine tuning the skills they already have. For more information, click here
